In my new essay on Polysingularity, I’m writing about the concept of freedom that implies liberation from habits.
Too often we think of freedom as the ability to do what we want.
However, it can be much more than that. In fact, it’s very easy to do what you want, however, it’s much harder to do what you usually wouldn’t do.
I argue that an interesting version of freedom comes through the ability to circumvent your habits, change your patterns, and enact new behaviors even sometimes against your will.
It then follows, ironically, that we might experience the highest degree of freedom when, in fact, we feel confined.
