Transnomia @ Tanztage / Sophiensaele | 01/2011

In January 2011, together with Diego Agulló, we presented Transnomia: a live performance on suspended meaning, making sense, and complicit realities. It was the second presentation of Transnomia adapted for a theater. We were invited to show this work at Tanztage at Sophiensaele in Berlin by Peter Pleyer, who also hosted a residency at Uferstudios for us to develop the piece.

Prior to that, we showed Transnomia only once, at P-A-F (Performing Arts Forum) in France in a beautiful chapel building, which carried its own resonance and influenced this work greatly. It was very interesting, therefore, to convert it to a theatrical setting because we had to rework some of the elements that felt to have special weight in such a laden setting as a church. Instead, we had to rely more on timing and coincidences (as Transnomia has always been aleatory from the beginning) and to develop different mechanisms to carry suspense.
