ThisIsLike @ Les Ballets C de la B, SI Residency | 08/2010

ThisIsLike was a tool for associative thinking that I developed between 2007 and 2012. Its concept was very simple: functioning like an open database, it allowed people to share and view each others’ associative ideas. Similar writers, places, concepts, musicians. You could type in whatever it is that you have in mind and then it would show you what other people think “this is like”.

For the Summer Intensive residency hosted by Christine de Smedt at Les Ballets C de la B, we explored how This Is Like ( http://thisislike.com) can be used an online mapping initiative where the knowledge is realized not through a fixed concept, but through a relationship, an active event. In SI we explored the use of This is Like to explore associative narratives as the basis for a performance piece (instead of working with a script).

Interview between Vladimir Miller and Dmitry Paranyushkin on space strategies and how space can facilitate renegotiation of certain behaviors, interactions, relations, and thinking between the participants. Taken at SI, 20 August 2010: http://soundcloud.com/lesballetscdelab/space-interview-vladimir-dmitry

We also produced Life Skills videos where the participants of the residency talked about their artistic practices and approaches.
